The Box Blazer is a retro inspired jacket that is dartless, loose fitting, unstructured and unlined, with dropped shoulders, optional bound button holes and inseam front pockets. It is reminiscent of the ‘80s or Beatnik style depending on fabric choice.

Tanya K. This blazer is so my style and so not my style! I love the look of it, but I normally wear more form fitting garments. I am happy that I branched out and tried a different style. I feel ready to walk down the chic-est of streets! The huge pockets are amazing and nearly invisible for a cleaner look. The ease of fit lends this pattern to so many fabric choices. I’ve sewn one out of corduroy and one out of wool with a heavy linen collar. Enjoy the sew!
Samantha S.The Box Blazer is a fun sew which would be great as your first coat pattern or for the more experienced sewist to build new pieces into your autumn / winter wardrobe. It came together really quickly and the pocket construction is simple and satisfying. I used a wool which is super cozy but I can also see this great for other seasons with a different choice of fabric.
Andrea J. The blazer is super easy to make, and I absolutely love the pocket placement on this jacket.
Joanne B.Quick and easy jacket that could be slouchy or more dressed up depending on the fabric. I will definitely make it again in a more structured fabric.
Szvilia S. With the video tutorial it was breeze to sew. I love my new coatigan.
Anna B. Comfy and stylish, a jacket I can see myself wearing through most of the seasons. I have broad shoulders which makes wearing jackets and coats challenging. This Is one I can move in. The video alongside the instructions is awesome, the pattern gives the timings for each stage of construction so you can jump to part you want. Also there are so many little extra nuggets in there. Another awesome pattern from Sarah.
Olivia H. Sarah's patterns are so fun to make. With unlimited possibilities for hacking you can really make something truly unique.
Louise S. This is a great, versatile, stylish pattern. I loved it as soon as I saw it. It will have quite a different vibe depending on the fabric used, and can work as a blazer indoors but also as a light jacket. It was also a real pleasure to sew: this was my first lapel, and my first time using Hong Kong finishing on the seams, and it all went very smoothly. The instructions were super clear: detailed and well-supported with illustrations and a video sewalong, which I really enjoyed. The blazer came together very easily with not too many steps (love that sewn-on rather than set-in sleeve!) Very neat detail where the hem and front facing meet. All in all, I can see that I will get a lot of wear out of this garment, and I look forward to making it again in a drapier fabric, which I think will give it quite a different (but also great!) look.
Mariz V.Before sewing this coat I never knew i needed it. It comes together very easy, has the perfect fit and you can totally make a lot of variations. I have a second one cut allready.
Marian M.The Box Blazer is a great pattern with modern style that can be dressed up or dressed down with a variety of outfits. It takes on so many different forms depending on what fabric you use. It's a great fall pattern that I'd recommend to anyone!
Sophie Z. This is the first time I have sewn a jacket and had an absolutely wonderful time sewing the Box Blazer Sewing Pattern from Pattern Union. I am very pleased that in one day I had a finished garment and I have already bought fabric to sew another one up!
